As a seasoned attorney, policy advisor, and administrative leader, and with over a decade of experience spanning agriculture, renewable energy, economic development, and technology, Nashad is regularly called on as an expert to advise in complex matters. As a Presidential appointee, Nashad currently serves as a USDA Climate Fellow, where he provides oversight and advisory solutions for the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), driving initiatives that enhance rural economic development through renewable energy and energy efficiency. His expertise in navigating the intersection of policy, sustainability, and innovation positions him as a leading advocate for climate-smart solutions that benefit underserved communities.

In his role as Director of Carbon Strategy at GRŌ FARM, Nashad has spearheaded transformative projects in urban agriculture, food security, and workforce development. He has successfully collaborated with federal and state agencies to implement policy frameworks addressing food access and climate resilience while mentoring beginning farmers in sustainable practices. His commitment to equity has been demonstrated through his leadership as Chairman of the USDA Farm Service Agency’s County Committee, where he championed policies to increase participation of historically underserved farmers in federal programs.

Previously, Nashad served as an attorney for the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, providing strategic counsel on regulatory compliance and risk management in the financial sector. His tenure at Dyn, Inc., now part of Oracle, saw him negotiate high-profile agreements with global tech giants like Amazon and Netflix, while shaping internet security policies at the international level through his work with ICANN. Nashad’s legal acumen was further honed through roles supporting major brands, municipalities, and even the New York Yankees in business and legal affairs.

Beyond his professional roles, Nashad has been a passionate advocate for community development. As President of the GRŌ Health Center and former board member of the Gateway Region YMCA, he has led programs that address food insecurity, conservation, and youth development. His appointment to the Missouri State Technical Committee underscores his commitment to advancing conservation and agriculture policies at the state level.

Nashad holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Morehouse College, a Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas-Little Rock School of Law, and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. His blend of expertise in law, policy, and business equips him to bridge the gap between urban and rural development, driving innovative solutions that enhance economic and environmental resilience.
